Following in the footsteps of the HP Officejet J3680 and the Brother MFC-885CW, the Brother MFC-790CW offers its own built-in phone and answering machine. It also copies, scans, faxes, and prints at a reported 27 ppm in color and 33 in black. A 15 page auto document feeder (ADF) enables you to multi-task as you fax, scan, or copy, and Ethernet and Wi-Fi keep your family and/or small office connected.
Besides the phone, the biggest enhancement in the MFC-790CW compared to the MFC-290C, MFC-490CW, or pretty much any other Brother printer to date is the 4.2” color LCD touchscreen. You can also print PC-free via PictBridge, memory card, and USB Flash Drive, and the MFC-790CW features the same 20 sheet dedicated photo tray as the MFC-490CW. MSRP comes out to $179.99 versus $99.99 for the MFC-290C and $129.99 for the MFC-490CW, so think of the price increase as a fee for the phone and super-sized LCD.
